"Yes Emma it's true. The store's gonna close, I'm sorry to say. My grandfather opened this place a long time ago. He told me before he died that he built it as close to the road as possible. He said he wouldn't do that now because of what the cars have become. People used to just stop in the road in those days. And they'd yell thru the window what they wanted. Grandpa would put it on account and then bring it out to them. He had the first drive-in store in history and never got a bit of credit for it. He'd be upset to know that I had to close because the insurance costs too much. Delivery trucks won't stop if the floors and steps don't carry enough weight. And I can't sell gasoline because of the fire codes. Hell, if a person can't stop for gas what's he supposed to stop here for. To talk with me? Sometimes I feel like the aliens are coming…"
