Filippo Brunelleschi (1377-1446) developed the theory of one point perspective around 1400; it subsequently governed the manner in which artists constructed 3-dimensional space in their paintings for the next 500 years (powerful stuff), that is, until our 20th century moderns made the picture space flat again. In his spare time he discovered a way to build the dome over the Florence Cathedral now considered the apex icon of the Italian Renaissance and, in the process, created the role of professional architect as we know it today.
Early on in my picture taking, after reading about Brunelleschi, I made a bunch of photo studies of his 'disappearing point' wondering how perspective might be enhanced and manipulated for other purposes. I need to recapture those halcyon days of invigorating free wheeling impulses.

I remember that photo-walk well. I can't believe it was over 18 years ago.
