Reminds me of a nice early Fall day I spent on Spring Creek in SW GA a few years back. I was helping DNR biologists trap, tag, weigh, measure, and collect blood samples from Alligator Snappers (the very big cousins of the common snapper, like Spike, here). The gator snappers we caught weighed 15 to 80 pounds and were butt ugly. This portrait of Spike is a reminder to us all that no matter how ugly a person or a critter is when it grows up, we are ALL cute when we are babies.
